PASCO SOUP ANNOUNCES PRESENTERS, READIES FOR SEPTEMBER 29TH EVENT
PASCO, Washington, September 13, 2016 – Pasco SOUP, a new community crowd-funding event under the Downtown Pasco Development Authority (DPDA), announced the presenters for its inaugural event to be held September 29th, 2016 from 6:30pm – 8:30pm at Don Antonio’s Restaurant.
“The members of the Pasco SOUP planning committee were very pleased by the variety of proposals submitted by community members,” said Pasco SOUP coordinator Isaac Myhrum. “Ultimately, the committee were drawn to new projects aimed at emerging opportunities or underrepresented needs in the community. We are grateful to everyone who submitted a proposal. We can’t wait to have our four presenters share their projects at the Pasco SOUP event.”
The selected presenters are:
- Nuestra Noche (Our Night) – A community movie night featuring Spanish-language films.
- Chiawana High School Lacrosse Club – A local high school club recruiting players for this rapidly growing sport.
- LGBT Youth Catalyst Leadership – A youth leadership program providing mentors and community support.
- Somos Pasco – A digital platform for social commentary and promoting events particularly in Downtown Pasco.
Pasco SOUP is an event where four presenters are given four minutes each to share their idea with the audience. After a community soup dinner, audience members vote for their favorite and the winning project receives the donated proceeds at the door. The contribution collected at the door will be $5 per person. In addition, the DPDA will contribute a $250 scholarship to the winning project.
Pasco SOUP is based on an acclaimed project called Detroit SOUP which started in Detroit, Michigan in 2010. The SOUP movement has grown globally and Pasco SOUP will be among only a handful of active programs in the Northwest.
The inaugural Pasco SOUP event will occur Thursday, September 29th, 2016 from 6:30pm – 8:30pm at Don Antonio Mexican Restaurant, Plaza Del Sol Building, located at 528 W. Clark Street, in Pasco, Washington. The Tri-Cities community is invited to attend.
