DOWNTOWN PASCO DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY SET TO LAUNCH NEW CROWDFUNDING EVENT, PASCO SOUP

PASCO, Washington, August 1, 2016– The Downtown Pasco Development Authority (DPDA) announced today it is launching a new crowdfunding and community-building event in Downtown Pasco called Pasco SOUP sponsored in part by Coldwell Banker.

“Pasco SOUP is an event where the community can hear four presenters give short talks on new business, non-profit or community projects they are starting in Pasco. After enjoying a meal of bread and soup, the audience votes on their favorite presentation. The winning presenter receives a cash prize donated by audience members at the door. This is community building and crowdfunding at its best,” said Pasco SOUP coordinator Isaac Myhrum. “Pasco SOUP serves as a vehicle for fostering bridges of understanding between community members, while also supporting some incredible startup enterprises and civic projects.”

Pasco SOUP is based on an acclaimed project in Detroit, Michigan called Detroit SOUP which started in 2010. The SOUP movement has spread to cities around the globe and Pasco SOUP will be among the first of its kind in the Tri-Cities and among only a handful of active programs in the Northwest.

The DPDA is currently seeking applicants to be presenters at the event. The only rule for proposals is that the startup or project must operate within Pasco city limits. Winning presenters will return to a future SOUP event and give a progress report. Interested presenters may apply at http://www.pascosoup.com.

The inaugural Pasco SOUP event will occur Thursday, September 29th, 2016 from 6:30pm – 8:30pm at Don Antonio’s Restaurant, Plaza Del Sol Building, located at 528 W. Clark Street, in Pasco, Washington. The Tri-Cities community is invited to attend. Entry contribution at the door is $5 per person.

The DPDA and Pasco SOUP wish to thank our generous sponsors including Coldwell Banker (main sponsor), My Place Hotels-Pasco, WA, Taxes y Mas, Umpqua Bank, Social WebNet, and Bacon Wrapped Hotdogs.
